For cold weather comfort food, meat and potatoes usually satisfy all my cravings. The classic baked potato is always welcome but, let's face it, it needs some help. We can slather it with butter and sour cream but, this recipe covers those potatoes with creamy, cheesy ground beef.

Oven Smoked Brisket with Vegetable Fritters
I know that many of you grew up in places where brisket came off a smoker with meltingly tender meat and that characteristic smoke ring at the top. But I grew up with brisket that was cooked in an oven, submerged in beef stock and red wine, accompanied by herbs, onions and carrots. That came out meltingly tender as well and you also got gravy.

Crispy Greek Meatballs with Tzatziki and Feta
Sometimes a single ingredient in my fridge or pantry inspires an entire meal. And that's exactly how this dinner of Mediterranean flavors came together. What was the ingredient this time? Some leftover feta cheese from another recipe.

Breaded Veal Cutlet Sandwich
This is my summer of awesome sandwiches. It started with a new gourmet sandwich place in my neighborhood and now I'm addicted to creating fun sammies of my own.

Deep Dish Broccoli Cheddar Quiche
There's a new French bakery in my neighborhood. In addition to croissants and delicate fruit tarts, they also sell slices of their fresh baked quiche. It's hard to walk past the place without immediately getting hungry. So far the only thing that's saved me from buying them out has been the fact that the line to get in goes around the block.

Cheeseburger Hand Pies
I have a hard time resisting anything in a crust, sweet or savory. So, when I'm developing recipes, I frequently ask myself - would this be good inside a crust of some kind? Truth.

Pasta Bake with Beef and Pumpkin
Not only is it officially autumn but I was toying with the idea of turning on the heat the other day. I held out, for the time being, but that means it's also now hot cheesy pasta bake season.

Steak and Couscous Salad
One surefire way to make everyone happy at dinnertime in my house is to serve steak. It actually makes most of my guests happy as well. Obviously it's amazing to just eat steak on its own but I love serving it as part of a salad. The ideal one dish meal.

Chocolate Mug Cake with Peanut Butter Sauce
I've made quite a few batches of chocolate mug cakes lately, and have been forced to taste them all in the name of research. I do this for all of you, of course. Because I want to make sure that I give you a recipe for the fluffiest cake with just the right amount of everything. It's a tough job.

Pot Roast Stuffed Sweet Potatoes
I've been craving a melt-in-your-mouth roast for the past few weeks but couldn't find the cut of meat I normally like to use. So I waited and it paid off because I snagged a beautiful 3 lb. chuck roast last weekend and have been loving the leftovers.

Deluxe Smashburgers
In contrast to the thick, juicy burgers we've all come to crave, Smashburger brought us the thin, crispy version and I'm all in. Bonus points for the fact that they're quick and easy to make at home.

Beef Skillet Pie
If ever there was a time for comfort food, this is it. And any kind of pot pie situation is my idea of comfort. This skillet version combines browned beef with a creamy mustard sauce and is topped with flaky pastry. And if all you have on hand is ground chicken or turkey, the recipe will work just as well.

Spaghetti with Arugula and Tomato Confit
Sometimes my favorite meals are the ones borne of necessity because the contents of my fridge and pantry and a little light that day. I usually have some form of dry pasta in the house so that's a reliable base. But on the day in question, I had a package of baby arugula and a whole lot of cherry tomatoes left over from a photo shoot. Hmm. Of course, I could just make an arugula and tomato salad but I had a better idea.

Vegetarian Salisbury Steak
So, no, I haven't gone vegetarian on you. And my love of homemade Salisbury steak is strong. I particularly love the mushroom gravy - always the best part for me when I was eating it grown up. But the veggie version is damn good, too.

Cauliflower Falafel on Naan
One of my favorite meatless meals is a great falafel sandwich. Those little balls of chickpeas and spices are seriously so delicious and they make me feel like I'm not missing anything without meat in my meatballs. And I never tire of making variations.

French Onion Meatloaf
Is there a better cooking smell than onions, slowly caramelizing in a pan? For me, it's the ultimate in savory deliciousness and the promise of an amazing meal. And, of course, paired with all the melty goodness of Gruyere cheese, you get the flavors of French onion soup. My motto? French onion all the things!

Individual Roast Beef Pot Pies
One of my favorite things to cook is a chuck roast in a big Dutch oven pot. I fill the pot with onions, carrots, beef stock, red wine and fresh thyme before letting it do its thing in a slow oven. The meat is so tender that you don't even need a knife and I turn all that cooking liquid into the best gravy.

Stuffed Roasted Cornish Game Hen
My European mother came to the US as an adult and had to learn American foods and holiday customs. She liked the idea of them but wasn't completely sold on some of the dishes so she put her own spin on them. This also applied to the Thanksgiving and Christmas turkey which she interpreted to mean some kind of roast bird. And it was fun each year to see which bird she'd chosen.
